La Aurora, the Dominican Republic’s Original and Oldest Cigar Factory, is marking a milestone in 2023. For 120 years, La Aurora has been crafting premium cigars that stand on the shoulders of tradition. The best way to celebrate 120 years and this commemorative anniversary is to bring into existence an incredibly unique cigar that is the product of the knowledge, passion, creativity, and desire for excellence found in every single member of the La Aurora family. La Aurora 120 Anniversary is a medium-to-full body cigar wrapped in a beautiful Dominican Habana 92-seed leaf that sits over an Olor dominicano (Cibao Valley) binder and encompasses a blend of Piloto Cubano (Cibao Valley, Rep. Dom), Olor dominicano (Cibao Valley), and Dominican Corojo filler. The wrapper is selected for its aromatic attributes and consistent burn, while the fillers are selected to bring in a complete and balanced smoking experience without ever compromising flavor. Available in dress boxes in four formats: Robusto (5×50), Toro (5 ½ x 54), Gran Toro (6×58) and Churchill (7×47). The cigar is expected to hit retail in late spring.

“As we commemorate our 120th anniversary, we are proud to mark a milestone that will serve as a reference point for many years to come. Our commitment has always been with creating cigars that embody the rich, distinct flavors of the cigar world,” said Guillermo León, president of La Aurora. “The La Aurora 120 blend we have chosen to create is a product of teamwork to a degree we had never accomplished before.

La Aurora 120 is a memorable smoke with a bold start marked by an opening of a cedar aroma attributed to the cigar’s aging. The cedar notes provide a smooth buffer for the smoky flavors of peppered cinnamon and anise. With a bold start, the opportunity for sweeter notes to enter the fold arise, with sweet cocoa and coffee bean slowly evolving into a smooth vanilla finish to establish balance. As the burn line progresses, the flavor profile can be expected to turn on its head and provide a finish enriched by sweet nutty flavors taking center stage with subtle notes of wild honey and rich earth. Thanks to the Cibao Valley fillers, from La Aurora’s own farms and long-trusted partners, the cigar has been designed by carefully adjusting La Aurora standards and making adjustments that allow the team to craft cigars with ownership. The fillers are selected to bring in a complete smoking experience in a full-bodied output that can still manage to provide a balanced and refined sense of strength without ever compromising flavor, a feat possible thanks to the developed understanding of the leaf by La Aurora rollers.

“The 120th Anniversary also brings a “New Dawn” for La Aurora. We have rebuilt our Tabaquería to represent our Dominican identity in full, as well as grown more of our own, unique La Aurora tobacco than ever before in our history,” shared Guillermo León. “We have made emphasis in learning as a team and revamping our approach toward tobacco education. Every member of our large family has such an understanding of the leaf to make them the greatest among any team of rollers in the world. Armed with their knowledge and skill, our standards of quality have never been higher. Onward to a brighter tomorrow, to even richer traditions, to making history again and again, onward to The New Dawn.”
