2021 Cigar of the Year #6: Micallef “A” Churchill

December 13, 2021 By Matthew Tabacco

Micallef is a smaller yet up and coming brand based down in Texas. Owner Al Micallef made his money outside of the cigar business but decided to join in for the love of tobacco. They have a very nice and wide selection of cigars made both with the Gomez-Sanchez family and by STG.

However, it was last years “A” that won the hearts of many ambassadors, including myself. The “A” gets its name from being short for “Ambassador” which was done to honor the Micallef Ambassadors, the companies own social group of its extremely loyal fans and customers.

The Micallef “A” is a 6 3/4 x 54 non-traditional Churchill with a Nicaraguan wrapper, Sumatra Binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Very sweet and mellow, this media bodied cigar is very reminiscent of the Anejo from Arturo Fuente. Ask for this cigar at your local brick and mortar retailer.
