Warped to Re-Release Black Honey at PCA 2023

June 24, 2023 By Matthew Tabacco

Warped has announced the return of the Black Honey. This is the third time the blend has ever been released, the last time in 2017. Black Honey is the interior blend of the La Colmena Unico Especial with the wrapper of El Oso Papa, originally the blend itself was a mistake.

“Back when we were rolling the original La Colmena Unico Especial at El Titan de Bronze, Sandy had accidentally put the wrong wrapper on the first 600 cigars of the production. When we were down at the factory to check on the production we noticed it and told her to stop, she had used the wrong wrapper. After smoking the first one, we immediately knew we had to call it Black Honey due to its dark honey flavor dominant flavor. We bundled them up and sold them only to thirteen retailers back in 2015. We released the blend once again in 2017 and now we will release it once again in 2023. The blend will not be released again for a minimum of six years.” says Kyle Gellis, owner of Warped Cigars.

“To this day, Sandy and Giselle still tell us all the time from visitors who walk into the factory or call them directly, asking about Black Honey and if it will/when it will ever return…Well now we can say that it will once again in the Fall of this year.” Gellis continued.

Rolled at El Titan de Bronze, the blend is comprised of Nicaraguan and Dominican Fillers with different dual Ecuadorian binders, and a Ecuadorian Oscuro Wrapper. The body is Medium+. Available in a single vitola, the original 5 x 48 Belicoso in boxes of ten. Rolled by level 9 Master Rolls from Cuba completely and capped at 100 cigars per day. MSRP is $22.00/cigar or $220/box.
