Villiger announced today they will be unveiling two new products at PCA 2025 in New Orleans next month. One of those is the 1888 Gran Reserva. The 1888 Gran Reserva gets its name from the fact the cigars were aged a full year after they were rolled.
The 1888 Gran Reserva is a limited edition release. It is a box pressed 6 x 52 toro and features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Ecuador Habano binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Villager also told us The Gran Reserva name signifies that all of the tobaccos used in the blend were aged for at least two years in tobacco bales before the cigars were rolled. The 1888 Gran Reserva is being manufactured at Villiger de Nicaragua in Esteli, Nicaragua.
Production is limited to 1,000 ten count boxes with an MSRP of $22 per cigar. Villiger also said they expect these to ship in May. Word on their other release is said to come later this week.
