PCA 2025: Tatuaje

April 22, 2025 By Matthew Tabacco

Sporting the usual black and white booth they always have, Tatuaje was once again one of the busiest booths at the show. Situated next to their sister booth, My Father Cigars Inc, the booth was pretty much filled with retailers the entire time. No changes to the booth set up, but I feel like it works for them and their identity. Tatuaje isn’t about glitz and glamour, they are a raw and edgy brand and it is reflected well with their representation. While in the booth, we interviewed Pete John and presented him with the 2024 Person of the Year award for his efforts in the cigar industry.

Here is a line up of what is to come from Tatuaje following the trade show.

Pork Tenderloin

Perhaps the most anticipated release is the return of the Pork Tenderloin which was famously originally introduced in 2010 and re-released in a smaller batch in 2016. It is arguably one of the most sought after cigars of all time by collectors. We do know that there will be approximately 5,000 bundles being made and they will ship to retailers soon. These were not put on display because Pete felt it might take the attention away from his other new releases and wanted to make sure they got their moment.

Fausto Line Extensions

Two new sizes of Fausto were on display at the show. They are FT110 – 4 3/8 x 60, with an MSRP of $11 per cigar and FT187 – 7 3/8 x 60, with an MSRP of $13 per cigar. They will both come packaged in twelve count slide top boxes and produced at My Father Cigars, Esteli. Tatuaje says they expect these to begin shipping in May.

7th Corona Gorda

7th Corojo

  • Wrapper: Nicaragua Corojo (MF Corojo)
  • Size: 5 5/8 x 46
  • MSRP: $9.50 per cigar

7th Tuxtla

  • Wrapper: Mexio San Andrés
  • Size: 5 5/8 x 46
  • MSRP: $9.50 per cigar

Both cigars are packaged in twenty-one-count slide-top boxes and crafted at My Father Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua. According to Tatuaje, the new 7ths should begin shipping early May.

Surrogates Backline

Pete also is releasing a cigar in the Surrogates collection called Backline. It is modeled and inspired by the tubes in a guitar amplifier. The cigars have a nipple head and a shaggy foot and represent the pre-amp and the power amp. The cigars feature the same wrapper but use two different shades to represent the difference between the two tube types. Some of you may or may not know that in the 90’s when Pete lived in Los Angeles, he was in a band and is a bass guitar player. But that is a story for other time. These are expected to ship in June.

Tatuaje 8-9-8

Very little information was released on this cigar as you will see below. We were able to write the standard wrapper, binder, filler and a size, but pretty much everything else is still to be determined. According to Pete, these are very close to the Tatuaje Selección de Cazador and currently 500 boxes have been made but it has yet to be determined if more will be made.

Tatuaje Cohetes Corojo

Meet the next cigar getting a corojo edition. I have to admit, I have really enjoyed what Tatuaje has done with corojo the last two years, and I am excited to smoke the rest of these releases to see how they hold up.

Tatuaje T110 Corojo

The T110 has become another major staple of the Tatuaje family since the original version debuted many moons ago. It has had several different wrapper varieties and now becomes part of the corojo roll out. Again, just read what I said above about Cohetes.

Tatuaje PCA 2025 Exclusive

Pete is one of the few who consistently not only has a PCA Exclusive but also does it the right way. Along with the TAA release he normally does; these are usually ones I also look forward to more than anyone else’s. This too also gets a corojo version, for as far back as I can remember these have always been Sumatra and the TAA is a Broadleaf.

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua
  • Size: (5 5/8 x 54)
  • MSRP: TBD
  • Production: TBD
  • Release Date: January 2026

Sex Tooth

Very little is known about this cigar expect that it is named after a good friend of Pete Johnson’s who is a musician who uses the name Sex Tooth. Pete mentioned that he had been working on something that he would name after him, but the cigar wasn’t on display and not much was shared about it. The cigar does exist for Sex Tooth, whose real name is Andreas Stefi, but when it will be available to the public is a mystery.
