I have always enjoyed the CLE and Asylum booth, very colorful with lots of displays and things going on. Arguably, it is also one of the busiest booths to visit year after year. It has a very modern yet classic look to it. Each of the product lines has their own designated spot in the booth making it easy to roam the perimeter and find what is available from the company.
There were serval new items to talk about this year from CLE/Asylum, and we spent some time with Tom Lazuka who also did an interview with us. There was also, of course, some of the largest cigars ever made in this booth. Something that is sure to draw even the mildly curious folks in for a gander.
Asylum Megalophobia

Megalophobia, according to Tom Lazuka, is the “fear of large things”. This cigar is being dubbed the “enough is enough” in terms of the “how big can we go?” question that seems to have been fueled by fellow brand Aganorsa Leaf with its Lunatic 10 x 100. Tom says it was a message that they are done going bigger and this will be the end all – be all of the super-sized cigars.
This cigar is larger than previous super-size record holder RoMa Craft CroMagnon Femur, something that Mitchell Santaga was quick to point out when it was announced. It weighs 8.3 ounces and will only come in boxes of two, with 500 boxes being made.

Asylum 13 Split Personality

Asylum first introduced Cool Brew a few years ago as its first “flavored” offering. It was a more chocolate mint like flavor that personally I found very enjoyable. The second release was on hand at PCA and in my opinion is even better than the cool brew. Split Personality is being called a Banana Nut Caramel flavor and when I first smoked it, I thought it reminded me of my wife’s banana bread hot out of the oven.

Eiroa Aviator Series

Christian Eiroa’s youngest son, Santiago Eiroa, completed this project in secret as a surprise for his father. It marks his entrance into the business and first project with the company. It is a trunk style box that features individual briefcases inside that each hold twenty-two cigars. There are eight briefcases inside and each case has a wooden divider that separates the two layers of cigars. The trunk got its inspiration from a trunk that was owned by Christian’s Grandfather, Generoso Eiroa. Only five of these trunks were made and I was told all of them sold out immediately. I was also told these would be delivered to each of the owners by the Eiroas where they will hold an event.
