Set almost towards the back near the food section was Micallef Cigars who has come a along way. The booth this year was slightly larger than last year but also had a small face lift to it. It had an all-black and gold theme…similar to Smokin Tabacco actually…
As much as I would love to think we influenced this, no we didn’t. In fact, Micallef was fully launching the new Micallef Black cigar which uses the same colorway. As a way to celebrate, the booth was black and gold as well as the staff in black and gold shirts. Micallef also had a display with all of their boxes with a tablet playing some Tik Tok videos on one side, and on the other side a small homage to their factory in Nicaragua with another tablet playing visuals of that.
Micallef Black officially launched at PCA but it was soft launched with Two Guys Smoke Shop and Smoke Inn last month. In addition, the toro was already reviewed by Kevin Acuff. It is the first new cigar line since the Micallef A was launched in 2020. If you read the review, it isn’t hard to figure out where this cigar will fall at the end of the year.

Micallef Cigars President Dan Thompson says “With Micallef Black, our intention is to present a cigar that exudes power, confidence, and a touch of allure. Moreover, we are thrilled to offer this exceptional blend at an unbeatable value.”
I must admit, the box design for the Black is pretty impressive, especially compared to their other more rustic style boxes. The clasp-less matte finish boxes with metallic gold printing are quite striking and I am not just being biased. It is perhaps the most beautiful design the company has released to date. Dan Thompson did reveal to us that they did take some influence on the box design from some of Matt Booth’s (Room101) previous works.
In addition to this, Micallef was showing some new sizes of the Leyenda which now includes a Robusto (5 x 52) and a Toro (6 x 52) and have a price of $10.50 and $11.50 respectively. Unlike the original Leyendas, these both ship in a parejo format and in boxes of 25. These were shipped in May.
