For more than a decade, Nimmer Ahmad, owner of Valacari, has been a friend and mentor to Lou Cross, owner of Lure Cigars.

“When I approached Nimmer with the idea of making a cigar to honor my late father, he gladly offered his help and was patient and supportive as the brand gained traction over the next year. Having that support and guidance from Valacari’s experience has been instrumental in Lure’s success. The collaborative projects we’ve done along the way have been some of the most rewarding. Nearing the second year of offering cigars under the Lure Cigars brand, we have leaned more on each other’s core competencies and focused on our strengths. We felt it was the perfect time to combine some of the best offerings from both companies and create a cigar that showcased the signatures of both brands. The name The Redfish is a nod to the color of the wrapper leaf and a popular sportfish to catch,” Cross explained.

The Redfish is a soft box-press toro featuring the dark, reddish-brown, flavorful Corojo Oscuro wrapper from Lure Cigars’ original core line, paired with an Ometepe binder and filler tobaccos (Estelí, Jalapa, and Ometepe) from Valacari’s newest release, the Lumineer. The cigar delivers a medium-to-full-bodied strength that is matched by its rich flavor profile. Notes include dried fruit, espresso, freshly tanned leather, baking spices, and a touch of white pepper on the retrohale.
With this release, Lure Cigars continues its commitment to offering premium cigars at an accessible price point. The Redfish will ship to retailers on September 2, 2025, and will be available from the following ten retail partners. This release will be sold in wine-colored, craft-paper, ten-count packs with Boveda humidification.
