La Flor Dominicana #PCA2022

La Flor Dominicana’s Booth at PCA 2022

La Flor Dominicana made their highly anticipated return to the Premium Cigar Association Trade Show this past weekend. Since the first hour of the first day, until the very end of the show, the booth was packed with retailers who were eager to place orders. The last trade show LFD attended was IPCPR in 2019.

When we caught up mid-show with Jonathan M. Carney, VP of Sales, he said “I haven’t been able to catch a break, it has been slammed which is good for business. We are very happy to be back and sell our cigars.”

The new LFD Solis

The actual booth was classic and timeless with its dark wood, light carpet and glass display cases- showcasing LFD’s latest releases. I would say a majority of the displays included Litto Gomez’s ashtray designs that he has been working on for the last few years.

LFD presented several new things at the show, with one of the most notable being the new Solis. Solis is a blend by Litto Gomez Jr, Litto Sr.’s other son. His older brother, Tony Gomez, created the “La Nox” line a few years back in 2015. This cigar is said to be the opposite of that cigar – La Nox is a tribute to the night and the Solis is a tribute to the sun. Solis is much milder than La Nox and meant to bring a different style of flavor than what LFD is typically known for.

Like La Nox, the Solis measures 6 1/2 x 50 in a toro size and the blend features Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Dominican filler from LFD’s La Canela farm.

We were also shown the LFD Golden Bull, a Lonsdale version of the 2016 Andalusian Bull that will be available later this year only through the purchase of one of several NFTs sold through an online auction. Purchase of the NFT entitles the owner the rights to the artwork, and then they are gifted a fifty-count gold bar styled humidor called the Gold Bullion. The humidor will include 50 cigars, and then the NFT owner will have the right to purchase up to 70 more Golden Bulls per month indefinitely.

The LFD logo on the top of the humidor is made from solid 18k gold. Ownership of the humidor, as well as the rights to purchase the seventy cigars, will be transferable. It certainly makes this a very high valued item with the potential for appreciation. The beginning of the auction for the Golden Bull NFT is August 11th and Smokin Tabacco will be doing a celebration live stream during the auction with Jon Carney.
