JR Cigar Announces Second JR Revival Series Cigar

January 26, 2026 By Matthew Tabacco

JR Cigar is set to release the 2nd iteration of their highly rated JR Revival series. A showcase of the cigar industry’s evolution through blends and styles popular over the years, the JR Revival series first launched in 2024 with Revival: 70s in honor of JR Cigars’ founding decade. Now, it continues to celebrate another epoch with JR Revival: 80s, inviting enthusiasts to enjoy a delectable taste of the decade of excess.

Set in the neon lights of hot Miami nights, JR Revival: 80s is an epic ride that’s a little bit opulence and a whole lot of edge. Hand rolled at Casa Carillo in the Dominican Republic using aged Nicaraguan and U.S.  filler tobaccos, a zesty Nicaraguan Habano binder, and a bold Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, this medium-bodied cigar is crafted by master blender and multi-Cigar-of-the-Year winner Ernesto Perez Carrillo. While Carillo gained prominence during the cigar boom of the 1990s, he hones his skills in the 1980s in his family’s Miami facility, where he began experimenting with flavorful tobaccos. JR Revival: 80s serves up the essence of this time and his craft, with earthy tones and hints of leather and spice.

“In 1980, I officially took over the family business,” says Carrillo. “This blend commemorates the memorable era that kickstarted my Hall of Fame career, and is a tribute to the 80s, with 45 years of experience behind it.”

“When you think of the 1980s and the style and vibes that encapsulate that era, you think of Miami,” says Nick Libretti, Senior Brand Manager for JR Cigar. “We knew JR Revival: 80s needed a blender who truly represented the Miami cigar scene during the era, so our first thought was the legendary E.P. Carrillo. With the original La Gloria Cubana and El Rico Habano being amongst my favorite early cigars, it was a dream to work with Carrillo on this project.”

Like JR Revival: 70s, which received several accolades- including Cigar Dojo’s Packaging of the Year Award in 2024 – the JR Revival: 80s packaging is heavily inspired by the colors and style of its era, particularly the “Miami Vice” influence that was immensely popular throughout the decade.  This 6 x 52 Double Perfecto cigar is available in a box of 10 for $189.99 MSRP, or $18.99 per cigar.
