Crowned Heads is proud to announce the next installment in the annual Limited Edition series of Las Calaveras known officially as Las Calaveras EL 2022.
EL 2022 will be a first for Las Calaveras in that it will feature a new wrapper. It will contain all Nicaraguan binder and fillers. It will be finished by a Nicaraguan Corojo 99 wrapper leaf.
“this is the second consecutive year we have introduced a new wrapper to the Las Calaveras marca.” Says co-founder Jon Huber
“The Corojo Oscuro wrapper results in a flavor profile that, in my opinion, is reminiscent of the signature “My Father’ style of delivering classic Nicaraguan structure and intensity, while retaining complexity and balance.”
For those who don’t know, Las Calaveras began in 2014 (which so far is my favorite in the series) as a tribute to those who had passed away in the previous year. It’s purpose is to be a celebration of life and remembrance versus being a mournful symbol of death or loss.
Every iteration of the Las Calaveras band features four initials embossed into four medallions to represent the four people who passed away in the previous year. The cigars are also packed into 24 count boxes of three rows of eight. Eight representing infinity or eternal life and three representing the beginning, middle and end of life.
1,500 boxes of each of the three main vitolas were produced with the fourth vitola being exclusive to the four count sampler. The four vitolas can be found below.

The suggested MSRP for Las Calaveras is said to be between $11.95 and $13.95 per cigar. Las Calaveras is manufactured by My Father cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua for Crowned Heads. It is expected to reach retailers in July.
