Crowned Heads announced earlier this week the return of the Wabash Cannonball, a cigar that originated back in 2020 as a store-exclusive for Casa de Montecristo in Nashville, Tennessee. The original Crowned Heads Wabash Cannonball was released in September 2020 as an homage to a Nashville of a bygone era. The Wabash Cannonball was a steel rollercoaster at the now defunct Opryland USA theme park in Nashville from 1975 to 1997. It was named after an American folk song about a mythical steam locomotive.
The original version of the cigar was a 5 1/2 x 48 super corona vitola and was originally only available at Casa de Montecristo Nashville. The original release was limited to 5,000 cigars total.
“I enjoyed working on the original Wabash four years ago, as I was able to go back in time to a simpler Nashville,” says Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber. “When I heard that Casa de Montecristo wanted to bring back the Wabash, I was elated and set out to build a bigger-better-bolder version of the original release.”
Sherri Sieminski, CEO of Casa de Monte Cristo added, “Wea re thrilled to partner with Crowned Heads on the latest addition to our Casa de Montecristo portfolio of exclusive cigars. The original Wabash Cannonball was so special to us, and we are excited that all our valued guests will have the chance to experience this version of such an amazing cigar.”
The 2024 version of the Crowned Heads Wabash Cannonball features a new blend, a beefier 5 7/8 x 52 vitola and will be available at all Casa de Montecristo locations across the country. The blend features a Mexican San Andreas maduro wrapper, Ecuadorian sumatra binder, and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It is manufactured at TacaNicsa in Nicaragua. They will come in boxes of twelve and there will be a total production of 15,000 cigars. The Wabash Cannonball will have an MSRP of $13.90.
