Black Star Line Cigars Announces Fifth Anniversary Cigar

March 1, 2024 By Nicole Tabacco

Black Star Line Cigars announced today that they will be releasing their Fifth Anniversary cigar, Marun. Marun will be rolled at Espinosa’s Factory, La Zona. Marun translates to the number five, and comes from the indigenous Yoruba tribe of Nigeria. In a press release, owner Aric Bey states,

The opportunity to work with the Espinosa team was brought to me by Richie “Riot” Otero. He recognized our hard work, and proposed we do a project with La Zona. It was great working with Hector Alfonso, the master blender at La Zona. He is a wealth of knowledge and taught me and my team some new things. This is a significant year for us. It came up fast and I can’t believe I’ve had this much success in a short period of time. The fifth year for most businesses is a pivotal year and we are looking to keep growing. La Zona, along with all the other factories I work with, will help us to get there.

The Marun blend consists of Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and fillers, all in a 6 x 50 vitola. The first run will be consist of only 5000 cigars. A limited amount of samples will be available at PCA 2024.

Additionally, there is a limited version of Marun being released for Oak Glen Tobacconist in Yucaipa, CA. The Oak Glen Tobacconist version of Marun will be a 6.5 x 48  box-pressed vitola with a closed foot. There will only be 1,400 release in this special size.

Shipping for Marun is expected to be early June, with an MSRP of $12.99.
