Ashton – PCA 2023

July 15, 2023 By Matthew Tabacco

Ashton is a company that sticks to the basics. By that I mean, they don’t need a major flash every year to stay relevant or to impress. In fact, the last time Ashton showcased something new was the La Aroma de Cuba Passion in 2021. In fact, because of this, when they do drop something new, it becomes a huge deal. Yet here they are, dressed to impress and ready to actually make some noise. While the Ashton brand itself hasn’t been added to in some time, they have really been focusing on the La Aroma de Cuba and San Cristobal lines more in the recent years.

They did however show a new booth last year which is similar to many other new booths we have seen in the recent years, utilizing a center core and leaving the rest of the surrounding space open for reps and retailers to spread out and do business. It is a nice presentation with the counter up front and the screams all synced to showcase the Ashton portfolio of brands. The round ashtrays and fresh packs add some beautiful color to the landscape as well.

This year, once again Ashton has decided to add to its La Aroma de Cuba (LADC) brand with a Connecticut shade version. It was surprising to see Ashton not only announce this cigar well before the trade show (May) but also almost immediately after announcing it, it was shipped out. Part of me was a little shocked to see them not wait for a full trade show roll out but as they say, “the times they are a changing.”

As with all the LADC lines, it is manufactured by My Father Cigars S.A. and features an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, with Nicaraguan binder and fillers. This will be a regular production product available at your local Ashton retailer. It is available in the following sizes and prices:

  • Churchill (7 x 50) — $7.85 (Box of 25, $196.25)
  • Corona (5 1/2 x 44) — $6.50 (Box of 25, $162.50)
  • El Jefe (7 x 58) — $8.45 (Box of 24, $202.80)
  • Immensa (5 3/4 x 60) — $7.50 (Box of 24, $180)
  • Monarch (6 x 52) — $7.25 (Box of 25, $181.25)
  • Robusto (5 1/4 x 54) — $6.75 (Box of 24, $162)
  • Rothschild (5 x 50) — $6.25 (Box of 25, $156.25)
