Arturo Fuente – PCA 2023

July 14, 2023 By Matthew Tabacco

Arturo Fuente’s booth is always one of the busiest at PCA. Returning with the same black and more centered block style booth from the last few years, once again it is as if we are trying to find the proverbial easter eggs hidden on display. In addition, this year Fuente had a coffee stand serving cafe Cubano and some other exterior display cabinets mostly to showcase the Fuente y Padron box and certificate of authenticity and the Artruo Fuente: Since 1912 book by Aaron Sigmond.

The first thing found on display is the new Don Carlos Eye of the Bull which we saw last year. Orders were now being taken for the newest variety of the Cameroon wrapped cigar. It is this year’s 2023 PCA exclusive from Arturo Fuente and measures in at 3 1/2 x 55. It has an MSRP of $12.80 per cigar and is shipped in boxes of twenty, making one box $256.

Next was the new three-finger tin offering now available in the Opus X Oro Oscuro blend. Previously, it was only available with Fuente Fuente and Angel’s Share blends. This line has been expanded on before starting originally with the 15-count sampler set usually released during the holidays, before each size was released in its own full box format only two years ago.

We also saw the Impossible 13 collection on display which previously was reserved as a special release for an event at the Arturo Fuente Cigar Club in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 2022. It will now be released to a small number of retailers across the US. This is a set of thirteen of some of the rarest Fuente cigars ever made. While no MSRP was given, they have been seen online from multiple retailers asking between $2,500 – $5,000. Carlito estimates there is only about 450 boxes available.

The cigars in the set are:

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX 20 Years Double Corona

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX 20 Years Lancero

  • Arturo Fuente Reserva Don Carlos Lancero

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Forbidden 13 Perfexcion X

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Angel’s Share 2016 Perfexcion X

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX BBMF Natural

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX 25 Years

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX BBMF Maduro

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX 2020 Sol d’ Amor (Dubai)

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX 2020 Viento d’ Amor (Dubai)

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Perfexcion No. 77 Shark

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX PJ

  • Fuente Fuente OpusX Toy Maker

The biggest thing however was the two books written by author Aaron Sigmond, Arturo Fuente: Since 1912 and Arturo Fuente: From Dream to Dynasty. Both books are published by luxury publishing house Assouline and are hand made in Italy. These books were originally written and created to celebrate Arturo Fuente’s 110th anniversary. The larger book, Arturo Fuente: Since 1912, has already been on sale and been sent to retailers across the world. It comes in a decadent outer box with a beautiful soft touch texture and the Opus X logo almost covering the entire front of it, while the book it set features an image from Chatea
u de la Fuente, the Fuente farm in Bonao, DR where the Opus X tobacco is grown. It carries quite a steep MSRP for a book with a price of $1,200.

The smaller version, Arturo Fuente: From Dream to Dynasty, is just seeing its debut now but with a twist. This book will come as a set, along with 22 of what Carlito calls “twenty-two of the most significant cigars ever made in the history of the Fuente family.” These sets will be sent to retailers later this year. The list of the cigars in this set include very popular and hard to find cigars such as the Purple Rain, BBMF, Eye of the Shark, Rare Pink, Between the Lines, Hemmingway, Casa Fuente, Opus X 20th Anniversary, Opus X 25, Forbidden X and more. It carries an MSRP of $2,200 and will ship Q4 2023.
