2021 Cigar of the Year #2: All Saints “Saint Francis” Robusto

December 22, 2021 By Matthew Tabacco

Perhaps one of my absolute favorite cigars of the year came from Micky Pegg, who is just getting back into the industry after taking a break. Micky was previously with Davidoff and CAO before leaving to industry to pursue other career interests. But he’s BACK, and he brought some white-hot-heat with him too.

The cigar in question however is the new “Saint Francis” Robusto. We first encountered this cigar at the 2021 PCA trade show and it has been a favorite since. I am not a big Robusto smoker so for this to get this kind of praise from me, it’s good. Recently, a Colorado Claro version of the “Saint Francis” line was just released in stores across the US.

It is named after St. Francis of Assisi, who is best known as the founder of the Fransican Orders. He is also known as the patron saint of animals and ecology and a patron Saint of Italy.

“Saint Francis” is truly flavorful, being medium-full bodied with a mouthful of spice upfront. The cigar then mellows down and gets very rich. Consistency is key which this cigar has. It features an Ecuadorian Oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers. It is made at Rocky Patel’s Tavicusa Factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.

“Saint Francis” is available in four sizes total, including the Robusto. It measures 5 1/2 x 50 and carries an MSRP of $9.70 while a box of 20 with run you $194. Look for it today at your local brick and mortar retailer.
