Tatuaje Announces Boris Karloff Cigar

January 7, 2025 By Matthew Tabacco

Everyone knows that Pete Johnson has had some success with Monster Series. Back in 2020, he released the Karloff which is arguably one of the most popular Tatuaje releases of all time. While it wasn’t officially a monster series cigar, it could be considered a spinoff. Now, Tatuaje has announced the Boris Karloff release, named after the actor who famously played the monster character in the 1931 film “Frankenstein”.

This 5 5/8 x 49 vitola is wrapped in an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan double binder and filler from Nicaragua. It comes packaged in twenty count boxes with a suggested retail price of $15 per cigar. Tatuaje says this is based off the blend of the Karloff from 2020 but not exactly the same. I assume that Pete got permission from the Karloff family for this project since the company stated in a press release Boris Karloff’s name and likeness are licensed by Karloff Enterprises / Sara Karloff.

Tatuaje said this run is limited to 1000 twenty-count boxes and were produced at My Father Cigars S.A. in Esteli, Nicaragua. The Boris Karloff release will be available at Corona Cigars this week and will be allocated to other select retailers later in January.
