Foundation Cigar Company has announced that the highly anticipated 2024 release of the Tabernacle Knight Commander has started shipping to cigar shops nationwide. Enthusiasts can expect this limited-edition cigar to begin arriving on shelves as early as next week. Crafted as a 6 ¾ x 52 Perfecto with a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and premium tobaccos, this annual fall release combines exceptional craftsmanship with a commitment to social responsibility by supporting a meaningful philanthropic cause.
Inspired by the prestigious honor bestowed upon Nicholas Melillo, owner of Foundation Cigar Company, by the Ethiopian Crown Council, the Tabernacle Knight Commander commemorates Melillo’s title as Knight Commander of The Ethiopian Star of Honor. Established by Emperor Menelik II in 1889, this esteemed title recognizes extraordinary service to Ethiopia. This cigar serves as a tribute to this honor, underscoring Melillo’s enduring relationship with the Ethiopian community.
This release follows the announcement of the Royal Ethiopian Trust (RET), a nonprofit organization led by Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie, dedicated to advancing education, entrepreneurship, and the preservation of Ethiopia’s imperial collection. The Tabernacle Knight Commander aligns with these values, directly supporting RET’s philanthropic initiatives in Ethiopia.
In keeping with Foundation Cigar Company’s dedication to giving back, 100% of net profits from the sale of the Tabernacle Knight Commander will be donated to the Royal Ethiopian Trust. The funds raised will support educational scholarships, cultural restoration projects, and community development initiatives across Ethiopia.
Nicholas Melillo said, “Receiving the Ethiopian Star of Honor is one of the greatest privileges of my life. The Knight Commander cigar is my way of giving back, and I am honored that all net proceeds will support the Royal Ethiopian Trust, contributing to projects that make a tangible difference in the lives of Ethiopians.”
The Tabernacle Knight Commander is meticulously handcrafted, featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and fillers from Estelí and Jalapa, Nicaragua.
