Asylum & Cigar Dojo Return with “Oy Vey” Cigar Collaboration

August 8, 2025 By Matthew Tabacco

Following the success of their 2022 release Meshugana, Asylum Cigars and Cigar Dojo are teaming up once again—this time with Oy Vey, a limited-edition cigar that continues the series’ playful nod to Yiddish slang.

“Oy vey” is a phrase used to express everything from surprise to exasperation; as in, “Oy vey, this schmaltzy cigar is the cream cheese to my everything bagel!” True to its name, Asylum Oy Vey builds on the zany spirit of its predecessor, delivering an all-new blend designed to surprise fans with a unique wrapper and flavor-forward profile.

  • Wrapper: Cameroon
  • Binder: Mexico
  • Filler: Habano (Ligero) | Corojo (Seco)
  • Factory: The CLE Factory (Honduras)
  • Production: Limited Edition (300 bundles of 10 cigars)
  • Packaging: 10-ct Bundles
  • Vitola: 6” x 52 (Toro)
  • Price: $120 ($12/cigar)
  • Release: Aug. 16, 2025 (RMCF Release) | Aug. 18, 2025 (Online via Smoke Inn)
  • Retailer: Smoker Friendly | Smoke Inn

“We’ve worked with a wide range of tobaccos over the years, but Oy Vey gave us the chance to explore a completely different direction,” said Eric Guttormson, owner of Cigar Dojo. “It’s our first Cameroon-wrapped cigar, and the flavor profile is unlike anything we’ve done before.”

The Oy Vey blend begins with a toothy, reddish-hued Cameroon wrapper, which surrounds a Mexican binder and a dual-core filler of ligero Habano and seco Corojo. Rolled in a single 6” x 52 toro format, Oy Vey delivers a medium-plus experience with notes of warm baking spice, ginger snap, nutmeg, dry cedar, and a touch of red pepper through the retrohale.

As with the original Meshugana release, Oy Vey will be offered in limited quantities through a multi-stage rollout. The cigars will first be made available in extremely limited numbers during Cigar Dojo’s annual “Dochella” pre-party on August 14th, held in advance of the Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival (RMCF). The majority of the 150 RMCF bundles will be sold to event attendees on Saturday, August 16th. Finally, an additional 150 bundles have been reserved for an online sale via Smoke Inn Cigars, taking place Monday, August 18th.
