J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is launching a new experience for visitors: a tobacco tasting class. In this smoking class, visitors to J.C. Newman’s historic El Reloj cigar factory in Tampa, Florida will learn about 24 types of premium cigar tobacco grown in 9 countries and smoke a selection of single-leaf puritos. The 75-minute class costs $50 per person and is limited to six adults. Classes will be offered daily this spring and can be booked online at their website.
Cigars are rolled with a blend of tobaccos,” said fourth-generation owner Drew Newman. “As cigar makers, we select different types of tobaccos, grown with different seeds on different farms to create unique and flavorful cigars. This class breaks down the blending process and allows cigar enthusiasts to learn about and taste a diverse array of premium cigar tobaccos from around the world.”
Although J.C. Newman’s Tobacco Tasting class is designed for experienced cigar consumers who want to learn more about premium cigar tobacco, novice cigar smokers will enjoy it as well. Visitors can enroll in a tobacco tasting class separately or book with a guided factory tour and a cigar rolling class.
