2025 Smokin Tabacco Awards: Best Packaging

January 28, 2026 By Matthew Tabacco

The old saying goes: packaging doesn’t matter but at the same time it does. You can’t smoke the box or the band but yet whether you realize it or not, the packaging almost makes the biggest impression on you at point of purchase.

Each year we present an award for Best Packaging. Last year, our 2024 award went to Davidoff for the Year of the Dragon.

It is hard to not recognize some of these works of art that are out on the market. One such work of art came out from Arturo Fuente for their Fuente Fuente OpusX 25 Perfecto. It was much different than most of the boxes that have been released for OpusX in the past which, most of them have been pretty fancy in their own right. But this one was different, it went above and beyond even the fancier boxes from Arturo Fuente we have seen in recent memory.

The box doubles as a humidor and presents the cigars inside individually packed in their own coffins. There is also a key inside the humidor that Carlos Fuente Jr. has said is important and has advised owners to hold onto it for later. One can only speculate this could possibly have something to do with another OpusX 25 release or even a potential OpusX 30 launch? Either way, time will tell what door that opens. Regardless, it is not surprise that Arturo Fuente once again brought out all of the stops for such an amazing release. Well done team Fuente.
